Providence Sterile Processing Assistant *Per Diem* in Medford, Oregon


Providence is calling a Sterile Processing Assistant to Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is an on-call / per diem position. We are seeking candidates who are able to pick up 1-3 shifts per week. We are offering variable day and evening shifts. Our per diem staff earn an additional 15% in lieu of benefits pay premium.

We are seeking a Sterile Processing Assistant who will assist the Sterile Processing Technicians by performing specific duties in Sterile Processing Department including in the Sterile Linen Pack Room.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Wash and dries Case Carts

  • Load and unload washers

  • Collect contaminated reusable supplies, instruments and equipment from hospital and in-house clinical departments for the decontamination process

  • Perform decontamination of same equipment as per department's expectation

  • Assist in Inventory, Order, Receive, Inspect, Assemble, Store and Distribute supplies according to established guidelines

  • Receive and inspect clean linen to insure parameters of linen are met for sterile use

  • Sort, assemble, and prepare non-disposable linen packs for sterilization

  • Collect, disinfect, and prep rigid containers for instruments

  • Re-shelve materials returned from surgery in proper locations

  • Remove and properly stores items from sterilizer carts after cooling

  • Wrap Orthopedic and Lap soak pans, etc.

  • Organize sterile instruments so that the Sterile Processing Tech can return them to proper location

  • Prepare 'Specialty Bags'


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Basic computer skills

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience in a health care setting, or dealing with the public.
