Providence Health & Services Senior Physicist in Medford, Oregon
Providence is calling a Senior Physicist (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR.
In this position, you will:
Plan, organize and direct the activities of the physics section of the Radiation Oncology Department to ensure provision of safe, accurate, quality radiation therapy services.
Act as one of the physicists for the Gamma Knife Center.
Assume responsibility as the hospital’s Radiation Safety Officer by ensuring all regulatory and licensing standards for radiation related issues are met.
Work collaboratively with the respective members of the supervisory team.
The delivery of radiation therapy treatment requires accurate dose measurements, dose assessment and treatment planning. These services can only be provided by a qualified and experienced radiation physicist. The hospital uses radiation in a variety of different formats for various purposes. It is necessary to provide expertise on numerous radiation safety issues.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Post graduate education to master’s degree level or higher in the physical sciences
Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics
10 years' experience in the physics of radiation therapy. Training time in clinical radiation physics can be included. The experience must have been obtained in the clinical environment of a hospital
Experience in the use of computers in the physical sciences
For physicists working in Gamma Knife, criminal background check & fingerprinting required prior to being Gamma Knife eligible
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Post graduate education to master’s degree level or higher in the physical sciences in the discipline of medical physics or radiation physics
Gamma Knife Experience
Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) experience
Extra cranial radio surgery experience
Experience in a supervisory capacity in a Radiation Oncology department
Knowledge of hospital administration and personnel management
