Providence Health & Services RN - Wound, Ostomy, and Continence in Medford, Oregon
Providence is calling a part-time RN (Registered Nurse) - Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (0.6 FTE, Days) to Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR.
This position works 3, 8 hour shifts per week; Monday - Friday. The position doesn't work weekends or holidays unless there's an urgent situation which needs attention. This position is unique in that there is the opportunity to have close relationships with physicians and other staff/specialists within the hospital. This role also works closely with the Operating Room to help with surgical wound vacs as well as stoma sites.
This RN will need to be able to perform a variety of wound care and ostomy treatments, including irrigation and fistula care. Experience with Wound Vac Machine/ NPWT machine is also highly desired.

In this position, you will:
Be a professional practitioner who functions in a highly autonomous manner within a flexible hospital-wide practice realm.
Apply knowledge drawn from a broad in-depth education in the social and physical sciences in assessing, planning, ordering, providing, delegating, teaching, and supervising nursing care of patients undergoing radical bowel and bladder surgical procedures to promote the patient’s return to a condition of optimal health and independence.
Be responsible for developing the evidence-based expertise of the nursing staff in acute direct-care situations as well as in assessing the educational needs of ostomy patients and their families and the nursing staff caring for them.
Function as an educator and consultant for community outreach programs directed to the care of persons with ostomies and wounds.
Have a scope of practice includes inpatient and outpatient management of continence, ostomy care and wounds. Authority and responsibility for these programs extends during Monday - Friday, regular work hours.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of an accredited course in wound / ostomy nursing
Current registered nurse (RN) license in the State of Oregon
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
5 years of nursing experience with knowledge of and exposure to ostomy care
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of nursing
Wound, ostomy, continence nurse (WOCN)
Certification as a wound / ostomy RN (continence optional)
