Providence Health & Services RN Clinical Coordinator, Medical Surgical (Med/Surg) Units in Medford, Oregon
Providence is calling a RN Clinical Coordinator to support its Med/Surg teams at Providence Medford Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a full-time position with a flexible day shift schedule Monday-Friday.
We are seeking a RN Clinical Coordinator who will assist and work directly with the nursing staff to ensure the delivery of quality, cost-effective care to patients. Demonstrates a wide range of general nursing, unit-specific and management skills, including application of the nursing process. Provides leadership for the operation of the nursing unit. Leads and develops staff by role modeling professional practice and effective management skills. Provides input into and helps achieve unit goals. Fulfills role expectations and principle duties of the Registered Nurse job description. Supports the philosophy of nursing and goals of the institution. Is accountable to organize, prioritize, direct and evaluate the delivery of patient care on a specific unit for a given shift. In a composed and confident manner, role models and mentors staff toward independence in practice, accountability for outcomes and coordination of the multidisciplinary team. Acts as a clinical resource and advocate. Creates an atmosphere of confidence and organization in an environment with multiple stimuli. Assumes duties in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Facilitating operations, coordinating all functions with staff, physicians, and other departments.
Directing or physically assisting in patient care.
Providing assignments based on staff abilities, educational preparation, and patient volume/needs.
Assuring that equipment, instruments and supplies are available to meet needs, recommending new and replacement purchases.
Effectively collaborating with physicians to ensure quality patient outcomes.
Facilitating communication between staff, nursing and hospital administration.
Maintaining open communication with staff.
Developing and maintaining positive interdisciplinary and inter-shift relationships.
Communicating with patient and significant others, addressing their concerns/issues in a timely manner.
Applying appropriate nursing theory and research utilization to clinical practice.
Sharing clinical knowledge and expertise with staff.
Facilitating utilization of interdisciplinary resources.
Actively participating in unit/hospital/PMMC committees.
Promoting awareness of professional/community organization.
Completing assignments/projects in a timely manner and requesting assistance as necessary.
Complying with dress code for PMMC.
Maintaining clinical competency at expert level.
Maintaining and demonstrating responsibility for personal behavior and the effects it has on the department and organization.
Required qualifications for this position include:
3 years clinical nursing experience
Licensure by the Oregon State Board of Nursing
Current BLS certification
Knowledge of nursing process
Ability to utilize critical thinking skills and make independent decisions
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of computer applications
Ability to work full time
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Proven supervisory experience
Experience in training and staff development
Certification in area of specialty
