Providence Health & Services Phlebotomist in Medford, Oregon
Providence is calling a Phlebotomist to Providence Medical Group South in Medford, OR. This is a 32 hour per week position. You will work 4, 8 hour shifts with the earliest shift start time of 0730 and latest shift end time of 2000.
You will obtain accurate and reliable blood and body fluid specimens from properly identified patients. Identifies phlebotomy difficulties, defines appropriate solutions and coordinates resources. Maintains outstanding relationships with client and clinic staff.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Uses sterile collection technique in handling collection devices, preparing skin, and in procuring sample(s)for analysis.
Assures proper preservative/anticoagulant is used for collection.
Provides positive patient identification and labels samples accurately and completely to assure patient demographics, safety, and quality assurance standards are met.
Enters lab test into the computer system and promptly delivers specimens to the appropriate testing area.
Receives, prioritizes and schedules requests for laboratory work. Provides the necessary instruction for preparation of patients when indicated by test requested.
Maintains adequate supplies for work area; coordinates receipt and delivery of supply requests.
Interprets, transcribes and files physician test requests. Identifies and resolves basic discrepancies and directs inquiries to proper technical staff.
Assures proper collection of specimens for drug screening programs, using established protocols and remaining current on all new procedures.
Projects positive, professional public relations image, maintains excellent rapport with internal and external clients.
Receives phone calls, accurately relays test results or test status, answers basic questions, refers/transfers calls to clinical staff or providers.
Considers the age or developmental needs of the patient when providing care.
Attends continuing education seminars and department meetings for further understanding of departmental procedures and changes.
Fosters a teamwork environment.
Receives, accurately processes and distributes specimens in a manner that assures proper preservation of samples and timely analysis and reporting of results.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
Current CPR Certification within 60 days of hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of college accredited phlebotomy certified program -or- 1 year phlebotomy experience in a similar setting.
1 year phlebotomy experience in a similar setting.
