Providence is calling a Manager Pharmacy Operations - Pharmacy (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR
We are seeking a Manager Pharmacy Operations - Pharmacy that will coordinate the daily operational activities of the pharmacy to provide for a well organized and efficient department.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Coordinate daily operational activities of the pharmacy including management of central pharmacy area.
Manage and supervise pharmacy technicians, support staff and central pharmacy specialist. In this capacity, the incumbent interviews and hires personnel, develop performance standards and conduct annual performance appraisals, recommend merit pay increases, and initiate disciplinary action when appropriate. Acts as coach, trainer, advocate and problem solver. Engage in dispute resolution when appropriate.
Manage technology including oversight of Pyxis machines within the facility and drug packager.
Lead operational work flow and efficiency improvements within the department. Evaluate existing programs and practices and make recommendations for changes to improve services, increase efficiency or maximize available technology, personnel and resources.
Manage drug procurement practice and operational component of drug shortages.
Responsible for oversight of controlled substance program within the facility.
Responsible for meeting regulatory requirements of operations (Joint Commission and Board of Pharmacy).
Lead operational departmental quality assurance activities and is responsible for maintaining adherence to USP-797 standards.
Assist the Director of Pharmacy in medication safety activities.
Serve as pharmacy liaison as assigned, for hospital based operational committees.
Maintain oversight of department timekeeper to ensure appropriate time card submission to payroll.
Participate in departmental manager meetings and manager on-call rotation.
Perform the duties of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician when required. This may include receiving and interpreting new drug orders, entering new orders into the pharmacy computer system, preparing, compounding, labeling and dispensing medications.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Valid Oregon Pharmacist license
2 years experience working in a hospital pharmacy department
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training: Completion of a Pharmacy PGY-1 Practice Residency
