Providence Health & Services Health Unit Coordinator, CNA 2 in Medford, Oregon


Providence Medical Group is calling a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), CNA2 to its Medical, Surgical Unit at Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is a per diem/on-call opportunity. We offer visibility to available shifts 6 weeks in advance, and schedules are finalized 1 month in advance. This available will vary with hours of 0630-1900, 0700-1930, and 1500-2330. Our per diem staff earn an in lieu of benefits pay premium which is an additional 15% of their base hourly wage rate.

We are seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) - CNA 2 - Medical Surgical that will work closely with the Charge RN, staff and physicians to facilitate the coordination of patient care through work with ancillary department, outside physicians and the community.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with various departments to perform procedures and tests

  • Contact other Health Care Providers for MD

  • Assure charts are in the accurate areas

  • Answer phone

  • Work closely with the RN to facilitate patient care

  • Patient demographic updates

  • Communicate accurately and sensitively with patients and families

  • Maintain adequate supply of forms for department

  • Order and distribute Medical Records

  • Prepare charts for coders

  • Prepare culture results and chart for MD review

  • Report to Public Health on all required tests

  • Manage log of positive culture results

  • Maintain department stats

  • Update HIPPA log

  • Report dog bites to Public Health

  • Maintain other reporting

  • Assist with stocking department, department cleanliness, room turnover, patient transport as needed

  • Demonstrate effective priority setting and organizational skills to promote patient flow

  • Perform all duties required for a CNA 2 role


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) recognized Acute Care CNA 2 course. -OR- Grandfathered to CNA 2 per OSBN requirements

  • Active and unencumbered license in the state of Oregon as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

  • One (1) year of Experience in an acute care setting or physician office

  • Six (6) months of CNA experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year of experience as a CNA 2
