Description:
Providence is calling a Cook to Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is a full-time position with hours likely from 5am-1:30pm, Monday-Friday. However, hours worked may be a variable schedule based on operational need. We are seeking applicants with schedule flexibility for this role.

We are seeking a Cook who will provide courteous, friendly food service to a variety of user groups including employees, visitors, physicians, and patients. Primary focus will be on preparing hot and cold food items using a variety of prep and production cooking equipment, following scratch recipes and department specifications. This position uses experience and knowledge of proper food handling techniques to prep items used in their area, to serve all food service guests and will be responsible to set up, stock, and clean service areas.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Prepare food items as requested per customer order, preparing hot and cold menu selections, using of cooking equipment including a grill, fryer, broiler, oven, cheese melter, deli prep table, induction burners
Organize, stock, clean, and replenish food display areas and storage ensuring proper food storage temperatures and rotation per department guideline
Prepare food according to recipe and procedures using appropriate equipment
Clean and sanitize food areas, and organizes work area
Seek ways to improve service and quality of items served to customers and shares ideas with management
Perform meal prep in a time manner from receipt of the order to meal on way to delivery
Meet quality standards as set by the department
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
On the job training, formal culinary arts program, military apprentice program -OR- one (1) year experience as a cook or short order cook
Experience in team environment with common goals
Health Department Food Handlers Certificate required within the first two weeks of employment
Able to follow recipes and read orders
Able to work in a busy work environment
Able to maintain pleasant demeanor and use good interpersonal and communication skills
Able to observe customer non-verbal actions and respond appropriately
Able to communicate and follow recipes and directions
Able to create food of optimum quality within short periods utilizing previous experiences when recipes are not available
