We are seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician 2 - Ce Biomedical Svcs Pmmc that will provide scheduled maintenance, repairs and electrical safety inspections on patient care medical equipment under the general supervision of the Biomedical Services Manager. Work assigned varies in difficulty with some requiring specialized training. Services are performed on, but not limited to; life support equipment (i.e., anesthesia machines, defibrillators, ventilators, balloon pumps), integrated monitoring systems (i.e., physiological monitoring systems), key diagnostic and therapeutic devices (i.e., telemetry monitoring systems, surgical video systems) and other like devices at multiple locations within Providence. The BMET 2 operates test equipment and other instrumentation in performing tests, inspections and repairs, and is responsible for accurately documenting these services on designated forms and within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The BMET 2 participates in the department on-call rotation.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment and integrated systems as assigned and completes the required documentation in the CMMS by the end of their next scheduled shift
Use scheduled work orders, manufacturer's literature and assistance from other BMETs, Senior/Lead Technician, or the Biomedical Services Manager
Perform repairs on medical equipment and integrated systems as assigned using manufacturer's literature and guidance from other BMETs, Senior/Lead Technician, or the Biomedical Services Manager and completes required documentation and entry in the CMMS by the end of their next scheduled shift
Draw parts form stock and places requests for new parts as needed
Help to maintain inventory stock levels for equipment assigned through review with Senior Technician and Technical Coordinator
Evaluate and prioritize work load to accomplish the best possible service given the resources at hand and provides feedback to the designated Senior/Lead Technician and/or the Biomedical Services Manager
Review and verify vendor service contracts as assigned to ensure that equipment is being serviced by the contracted vendor/provider properly and on schedule, and that the appropriate service documentation is received
Document contract services and reports in CMMS by the end of their next scheduled shift
Communicate delays and variances to the designated Senior/Lead Technician by the end of their next scheduled shift
Analyze data and provides input to the designated Senior/Lead Technician and other BMETs on equipment issues discovered during testing in order to enhance department capabilities and coverage. Notification must occur within one week of discovery
Act as a technical resource for less experience technicians
Provide training/mentoring for new technicians as assigned
Participate in the division's innovation, education, and transformation projects
Lead project teams as assigned
Participate in the department on-call rotation. Must report to work within 60-minutes of being called
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology -OR- Electronics Technology and three (3) years of experience in a healthcare organization with patient care electronic medical devices at a circuit level. -OR-
Military training and three (3) years of experience in a healthcare organization with patient care electronic medical devices at a circuit level, -OR-
Current Providence Biomedical Equipment Technician 1 with current AAMI CBET Certification and two (2) years of experience in a healthcare organization with patient care electronic medical devices at a circuit level
Current driver's license
