Providence Health & Services Billing Scheduling Coordinator in Medford, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling a Billing Scheduling Coordinator - Ob-Gyn Health Center (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Pavillion Medford in Medford, OR. This position's shift is M-F 8 AM to 5 PM.

We are seeking a Billing, Scheduling Coordinator - Ob-Gyn Health Center that will coordinate scheduling and billing of clinic services. Obtains and manages referrals and prior authorizations. Answers phones and otherwise responds to patient inquiries and requests and directs them appropriately. Reviews clinic coding and charges.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for ensuring all appointments and registration information have been scheduled or canceled accurately within established time frame guidelines and with appropriate documentation

  • Coordinate appointments as needed

  • Receive all patients, families, visitors and physicians coming into the clinic in a courteous and pleasant manner

  • Direct patients appropriately and notifies clinical staff of patient arrival/needs

  • Answer multiple phone lines in a courteous professional and timely manner

  • Respond, transfer and document phone calls appropriately

  • Verify patient registration and ensures all info is current and accurate

  • Assist financial coordinators with verification of benefits

  • Ensure referrals and prior authorizations are in place and accurate

  • Communicate effectively with compassion and sensitivity, anticipating the needs of patients, families, physicians, co-workers, supervisors, and other hospital departments

  • Provide superior customer service, in person or through telephone contact, that consistently meets and exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and PHS staff

  • Consistently work with team to manage patient flow in the department

  • Assist patients in scheduling appointments for imaging or with other specialists as directed by the physician or nurse

  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment focused on excellent patient care and service

  • Allow no breach of confidentiality to occur

  • Assist in development and writing of procedures

  • Provide administrative support to the clinic providers and manager

  • Assist in development of reports

  • Provide backup to the financial coordinators as needed

  • Follow policy and procedures to accurately scan medical records into the EMR

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Two (2) years of working experience in a health care setting

  • Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding

  • Knowledge of insurance and referrals

  • Data processing skills, preferably computerized appointment scheduling, word processing, and spread sheet

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Two (2) years of working experience in a medical clinic, preferably in scheduling and/or insurance authorizations

  • Extensive customer service experience
